Schedule
A tough hike, but one that rewards the senses as much as it challenges them.
We start in Walenstadtberg, where to we drive by bus up from Walenstadt. The path then immediately climbs quite steeply until we reach Alp Tschingla. There we treat ourselves to a coffee (and perhaps a cake). This is a worthwhile stopover (also for the night) for a family hike in the area.
We then hike for a long time directly to the foot of the Churfirsten peaks high above Lake Walensee. Again and again our gaze wanders into the distance, to the Glarus Alps or down to the lake or the distant Rhine Valley. It is simply indescribable how majestic you feel on this path.
Last but not least, we take the 1,100 metre descent, where your knees will thank you for having poles with you. If we are early, we can stop for a bite to eat in picturesque Quinten before taking the boat to Murg, where we board the train.
